An extra announcement says, \"Hindi movies are in sudden decline, everyone who's grown up is talking good things about bad films. Isn't this shameful?\" Unfortunately, JORU KA GHULAM hasn't much of anything to contribute toward the health and development of Hindi film industry, particularly at a time, when oily interests have started taking the shape of business ambitions in it. The acting in JORU KA GHULAM is not too satisfying, especially in parts played by youngish actors including none other than Shreyas Talpade. There are some decent sections and even some clever dialogues, but with an obvious lack of serious thought and experienced hands, there is no presence of any kind of artistic or social values.
JORU KA GHULAM is a film that will leave you to wonder where director A. Bhimsingh has been and why he's stopped making comedy-dramas and producing stuff like it. The plot of the film is very thin, content wise.
The movie, however, does have one thing to offer in the long run - a flawless pair of Bhagyashree and Dev Anand, who may be seen together for the first time in the film. Bhagyashree's acting here is not the best. She is good in some places. Dev Anand is impressive in the very first half itself as a hapless if not foolish father; he plays comedy with the best of them and does not let himself go to pieces. And when he does and his anger erupts upon the provocation of the world, he comes out as the best. As for the rest, it is a mere filler - apart from songs which are lilting, energetic and catchy.
Joru ka Ghulam (Brother's Slave) had Rajesh Khanna and it was screened on 24 October 1971. The film had an extremely talented cast and comprises Om Prakash, Dharmendra, Ajitesh, Jayshree, Nazir Hussain. 7211a4ac4a
